In Sumy region, journalist's car got torched

24.06.2015, 18:09

In the city of Romny, Sumska oblast, on the eve of June 24, unidentified individuals torched the car of the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Novyi Pohliad Romenshchyny" ("New view of Romny region"), Sophia Abdukadyrova. She thinks that this incident is related to her professional activities, and also thinks that police was an accomplice of the crime. Recently, Abdukadyrova published an article about how police creates cover-up for illegal activities, including illegal drug trade and sale of stolen items.

Police claims that the torched car was not even the journalist's property, and that an official complaint was not filed. Police also started an official investigation "based on the fact of destroyed property".  Abdukadyrova refused to file an official complaint or written testimony as she is sure police will not investigate its own crimes.
