In Severodonetsk, police seized equipment of cable TV operator LLC "Vocar Holding"

12.08.2014, 03:24

In Severodonetsk (Luhanska oblast), the oblast department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on cyber crime seized workstations and servers from the main station of the major provider of cable TV and Internet LLC «Vocar Holding». This was reported by the vice president of the Association of rights holders and content suppliers Natalia Klitna.  According to Klitna’s data, this provider did not re-translate Russian TV channels.

As a result of the police actions, more than 100 thousand local residents will have no access to TV or the Internet.

The official reason for the seizure was the court’s decision about violation of copyright. But the staff believes it is retaliation for their pro-Ukrainian stance.

In April, this provider was picketed by pro-Russian rally participants, which demanded that Russian TV channels were switched back on.

In May, the Luhansk People’s Republic gunmen demanded that the local cable  TV operators in Severodonetsk, the TV and Radio Company ‘STV’ and the LLC ‘Vocar Holding’ switched off Ukrainian TV channels.
