In Severodonetsk, local Internet got ‘swept clean’

02.06.2014, 21:05

In the end of May in Severodonetsk (Luhanska oblast) the local informational sector of the Internet got ‘swept clean’. According to Oleksiy Svetikov, the editor of «Segodnia v Severodonetske» and the head of Luhansk oblast branch of the Committee of Voters of Ukraine, for several days already the starting page of Severodonetsk Forums has been displaying an announcement: «The forums are currently down. The forum is unavailable – it is under maintenance to update the software».

Another popular Severodonetsk website «Severodonetsk Online» has been down for several days, too. Svetikov mentioned that before this the columns of city news «Severodonetsk Online» (these were links to materials of the website «Moi Gorod») and Ukrainian news disappeared from the website. On May 27, the announcement on the website «Severodonetsk Online» read this was done on request from the HQ of the Army of South-East, Severodonetsk.

In the middle of May, the editorial office of Severodonetsk website «Moi Gorod» decided to temporarily halt its activities on the territory of Luhansk oblast due to the danger of abduction of its journalists.
