28.08.2015, 12:35

North Caucasian military court of Rostov made its judgement on the case of Crimean residents Oleh Sentsov and Oleksander Kolchenko. They are adjudged guilty.

Sentsov was sentenced to 20 years in high security prison, Kolchenko - to 10 years.

According to the version of Russian investigators, Sentsov created in Crimea a terrorist organization, a branch of "Right Sector" that is banned in Russia, having the goal to take over Crimea from Russia. Sentsov denies all these accusations.

In addition, in the same case Oleksander Kolchenko, as well as Hennadiy Afanasyev and Oleksiy Chyrniy were tried. They made a deal with the investigators, and were sentenced to 7 years in prison.

According to the deal conditions, they were supposed to testify against Sentsov and Kolchenko.

Yet in the court, Hennadiy Afanasyev made a sensational declaration, refusing to testify against Sentsov. He also said that his previous testimony was a slander given under pressure.

On August 6, Sentsov spoke in the court. He told that he was kidnapped and tortured.

"I was beaten with hands and feet, with clubs, seated and laying down. When I refused to talk, they strangled me with plastic bags. They strangled me four times ", he said.

In the end of the session, the convicted stood up and started singing the Ukrainian national anthem. Some people in the audience stood up.
