In Rivne, journalist who tried to clarify if construction is legal, got attacked
On June 20 in Rivne, an unidentified man hit the camera of the journalist working for the web portal "ChaRivne.info" Denys Hryshchuk, the website informs.
The incident took place when the journalist tried to clarify whether the summer terrace of the notorious “Tundyr House” near the old intercity bus station was constructed legally. Before, "Tundyr House" seized the sidewalk to place additional tables. Now, the summer terrace was constructed. So, the journalist asked the restaurant administration to show him the documents based on which the terrace was constructed. Instead of documents, in the end, the journalist received verbal abuse from two men, seemingly acting on behalf of the restaurant administration. They refused to show the journalist any documents, and hit the camera when he tried to record the conversation.
The restaurant officially belongs to the mother of the deputy of the local city council Oleksander Babat. The journalist did not call police, as the men’s aggression did not go any further, yet he plans to send to police and to the prosecutor's office a request to check the legality of constructing a summer terrace on the municipal territory.
