In Pisky, "Segodnia" photographer Serhiy Nikolayev died in mortar bombardment

In the vicinity of the village of Pisky, Donetska oblast, photographer  of the newspaper "Segodnia" Serhiy Nikolayev was killed in shelling.

"Serhiy was an outstanding photographer and was fully devoted to his work",- the media outlet comments.

Nikolayev died in hospital due to sustained injuries. Journalist Anastasiya Stanko wrote on her Twitter account that the journalist was gravely injured when a mortar shell exploded nearby in the village of Pisky in Donetska oblast.

A year earlier, on December 1, 2014, Serhiy Nikolayev was attacked by the fighters of “Berkut” riot police in Kyiv on Bankova street.

At night of March 17, 2014 in Yalta (Crimea) unidentified individuals beat "Segodnia"’s special correspondent Dmytro Bunetskyi and photographer Serhiy Nikolayev.
