In Oleksandria, grenade thrown near editorial office

14.10.2015, 20:13

On October 13 in the town of Oleksandria, Kirovohradska oblast, a grenade was thrown to the yard of Dzerzhinskogo street 1, where the office of the newspaper "Za Nashu Peremohu" ("For Our Victory") is situated. The grenade damaged the office. The newspaper’s editor-in-chief Lohvinov says this incident is probably related to his professional activities. He told this in his interview for the newspaper "Moya Oleksandria". The explosion took place at 4:05 AM. The shrapnel broke the windows, damaged the walls and tiles near the entrance. Lohvinov was in the building during the explosion, but he was not injured. In his interview, the editor-in-chief named a specific person who, according to him, is the only one who could be interested in killing him – the current mayor Stepan Tsapiuk, who several years ago hired thugs, who made a cut on the editor's throat. The criminal case is still being investigated, and Tsapiuk is free and running for the mayor's office again this fall. According to Lohvinov, local police is in fact subordinated to Tsapiuk, so it is unlikely that they will bring him to responsibility. Also, the editor mentioned, the newspaper staff that writes critical articles about the mayor is being intimidated.
