In Odessa journalists for Hromadske denied access to polling station

22.07.2019, 16:03
The journalists for Hromadske are not allowed to get in the polling station #511442 in Odessa, as Hromadske reported. The members of electoral commission said they could not allow anyone to get in the polling station when counting votes. The journalists called on the police. As to Hromadske, the polling station itself is located in one of the educational buildings of the Law Academy, whose president is one of the authors of the scandalous language law Kivalov-Kolesnychenko, ex-member of Party of Regions, now member of the Opposition Bloc, Serhiy Kivalov. The members of the commission communicated to the press only through closed doors. "We count votes, we can not let anyone get in. Read the law ", responded they to the journalist of Hromadske. At the same time, there is a police official at the polling station. But he said that he could not help, because there is no fact of obstruction of journalistic work. In compliance with the part 3 of Art. 34 of the law "On elections of people's deputies of Ukraine" representatives of mass media have the right to be present without any permission or invitation of the election commission at the polling station on the voting day, in the premises where the vote is held, at the meetings of the district or polling station election commission, including in the counting of votes and setting the results of voting.
