14.11.2017, 20:04
In Izmail, Odeska oblast, the staff of newspaper “Spivrozmovnyk Izmaila” conducted an action of protect against eviction of the newspaper from the office that was sold by the city authorities, “Izbirkom” reports. The action took place on November 13 near the heritage-listed building called “building with benches”, where the office is located. The action was attended by the newspaper subscribers, staff, and representatives of other organizations that lease offices in the building. The newspaper staff considers that the municipal authorities sold the building with violations, and now the new owners just want to throw them out using force and threats, so the mottos of the actions were: “No to raider seizure”, “Stop abuse of city authorities”, “Officials, return the building to “SI”!”. As the media outlet reminded, in September of this year, Izmail city council sold the building where the office of local newspaper "Spivrozmovnyk Izmaila" was located for over 70 years. The sale, however, was without consent of the oblast Culture Department, violating the rules of privatization  of communal property. The newspaper staff filed a claim to the court against the city council, and the consideration of the case will start on December 5 in the Economic Court of Odesa.
