In Odesa region, journalists of online media outlet receive threats of physical violence

28.05.2016, 01:02

The journalists of the online media outlet “Provintsiya” (town of Balta, Odeska oblast) received threats of physical violence from unidentified people. This was reported to IMI representative in Odeska oblast by the media outlet’s editor-in-chief Yevhen Kiforenko.

As the editor-in-chief reported, unidentified criminals demand that the media outlet remove their published article about corruption in the military base in Odesa, which was published on their website on May 20.

According to Yevhen Kiforenko, in the last two days the website was under hacker attacks; also, several e-mails were received with threats of physical violence. In addition, the journalists are being harassed in social networks from many fake accounts.

Currently, they are deciding if they should file a complaint to the police.
