In Odesa, police does not admit journalists to court related to case of May 2 events

08.06.2016, 18:47

In Odesa, in Malynovskyi district court, police blocked the entrance to the court room where the judges were choosing the pre-trial restriction measures for Russian citizen Yevgeniy Mefiodov, who is a part of the so-called "May 2 case". He was detained for obscenities after the scandal in court of appeal on June 7. Because of the police, journalists were not allowed to the room, Hromadske TV reports.

According to the law, because the court considers an administrative offence, the court process should be open. The police refuses to comment on the reasons of the blocking.

Mass media representatives are waiting for the resolution of the issue, and in case they are not admitted to the court, they intend to file a collective complaint to the law enforcement agencies related to impediment to their professional activities.
