In Odesa, director general of "Seventh Channel" received threats and demands to change editorial policy
The director general of Odesa’s “Seventh Channel” Mykhailo Malyshev claims that he received threats from unidentified persons, who demanded that he change the TV channel’s editorial policy. According to him, on October 1, when he was returning home, at a poorly lit spot two young men approached him and told him to change the editorial policy of the TV channel, as its programs were affecting the interest of the city’s influential people.
He added that in the recent months the TV channel has been conducting its own investigations of local corruption schemes, bribery, and extortion.
According to Malyshev, the channel also is the only one in the city to completely forgo all political advertising and instead invites all officials and deputies and parliamentary candidates the forum for live debates.
Malyshev filed a complaint with the police about the threats he received.
