In occupied Donetsk, journalist went missing

07.06.2017, 14:51

Journalist and writer Stanislav Vasin went missing in the militants’ occupied Donetsk. His apartment has marks of break-in and search. This was reported by the ex MP Yehov Firsov on his Facebook page, “Detector Media” reports.

“In Donetsk, journalist and writer Stanyslav Vasin went missing. Most probably, he was captured by the militants. At that, his Facebook account is active, with new messages being sent and posts being published. Chances are, these posts and messages come not from Stas, as he isn’t answering his phone. His relatives can’t find him, there is no way to contact him. So I ask you all – be careful”, wrote Firsov. He also mentioned that Vasin’s apartment has marks of break-in and search and that Vasin stayed in the non-government controlled areas of Ukraine as he believed it to be his duty to stay in the thick of events and report what he saw.

As IMI learned, Stanislav Vasin was writing for Radio Liberty “Donbas Realii” and for “Ukrainskyi Tyzhden”.

In her comment for IMI, the editor-in-chief of the Radio Liberty project “Donbas Realii” Tetiana Yakubovych informed that they haven’t been able to reach Vasin since June 2. That day, his last material was published on the Radio Liberty’s website. She expressed deep concern and said that they are trying to find out what happened to him.

IMI was reported about Stanislav Vasin’s disappearance by the editor-in-chief of the magazine “Ukrainskyi Tyzhden” Dmytro Krapyvenko. According to him, Vasin was writing for them, as well.
