In Mykolaiv, traffic accident participant threatened journalist for recording

30.05.2016, 19:17

On May 28 in Mykolayiv, the passenger of a Mitsubishi Pajero jeep that got into a traffic accident downtown, threatened to punch in the face the journalist of the online media outlet “Novyny-N” Mariya Semenenko, who was taking photos of the accident. This information was reported on the media outlet's website.

The incident took place at crossing of Velyka Morska and Moskovska Streets; the traffic accident was caused by the driver of “Mitsubishi Pajero” not giving way to trolleybus No.6. As the journalist started recording video at the site, an elderly man nearby at first offered to remove  his pants for her to get the picture and then launched rude and obscene swearing at the journalist. When the journalist tried to explain him that she had every right to do her job in a public location, the man started threatening to smash her camera.  The driver of the car threatened to do this as well.

A policeman intervened, preventing physical aggression, yet he took no other measures besides explaining to the offenders that the journalist has a right to record.
