In Mykolaiv, director of State Archive tried to break journalist's camera in passport registration office

19.02.2015, 14:06

In Mykolaiv, on February 18,  director of the State Archive of Mykolaivska oblast Larysa Levchenko attacked cameraman of the online media outlet «Prestupnosti.NET» Vladyslav Hnatenko in the office of the central rayon department of the State Migration service in Mykolaiv, trying to break his camera.

The filming crew went to the location because of reports of the local residents, who complained about huge lines for registration of passports (rather, for statutory change of photograph in the passport at the age of 25 or 45 years of age), and very limited time allocated for citizens - only one day per week, which causes people to spend the whole day waiting in the line.

But some of the visitors of the office were not happy to see the journalists - a woman attacked them, threatening with her "connections" and demanding to "cut her off the tape" and stop recording.

In the end, the woman attacked the cameraman - his reasoning that it is a criminal offence and illegal thing to do did not work - "I'll show you illegal," she yelled, and continued to try to snatch away the camera. As a result, the camera was not damaged, but a part of the record was erased.

Later, the journalists managed to identify the attacker using their colleagues' resources - she was the director of the State Archive of Mykolaivska oblast, Larysa Levchenko. The journalists assume that she acted so because she was caught solving personal problems on her working time, as it happened approximately at 11:30.
