In mass media, fake news was published about attack of Polish radicals on a pensioner in Lviv region

22.03.2018, 18:13
On March 22, a number of Ukrainian mass media reported an attack of Polish radicals against an old man selling nuts near the market in the city of Sambir, Lvivska oblast. The source of this information was publication of administrator in the Facebook group “Typical Sambir”. But this information, as ZAXID.NET learned in the local police department, is not true. In the entry at the page of “ Typical Sambir”, it was mentioned that an elderly man was selling nuts and apples, and three Poles wanted to buy some, and started to haggle. The seller allegedly said something they did not like, resulting in a fight. The local police department reported that this news was fake, and the photo used in the publication showed a victim of accident from last week, when a drunk man tripped over and fell, injuring himself. The fake news was shared by about 140 users in the first hour, and it was also published by several Ukrainian mass media, in particular, "Forpost", IA ZIK, "Vholos" and Leopolis.news.
