In Kyiv, unidentified people attacked ZIK journalist at rally against illegal construction

On April 19 in Kyiv, a group of unidentified men attacked the journalist of the ZIK TV channel Oleksander Ivakhniuk at a rally against illegal construction, ZIK reports. Police officers witnessed the attack; it was also recorded on video camera. Ivakhniuk filed an official complaint to the police. The journalist thinks that the attack was related to his Facebook entry where he published the photo of one of the construction company’s defenders and asked to identify the man.  

   The rally was a protest of local residents against the construction company’s plans to illegally build a tall residential building in a densely populated district, at the location of a local lake which the developer intends to destroy.
