In Kyiv, unidentified men severely beat editor of journal "Political Critique"

On September 23, unidentified men in camouflage attacked the editor of the journal «Political Critique», professor of the National University «Kyevo-Mohylanska Academia» Vasyl Cherepanyn and left him severely injured. This was reported on the Facebook page of the Visual Culture Research Center.

The incident took place around 7.15 p.m. on a tram stop near the entrance to the subway station ’Kontraktova Ploshcha’ in Kyiv. Several men suddenly attacked Cherepanyn and began hitting him in front of passers-by. They were loudly accusing him of being a separatist.  

The police came with a significant delay, so the attackers were not detained.

Vasyl Cherepanyn sustained numerous injuries, including broken face bones.

He believes this attack was related to his professional activities, including organization of international scientific and cultural conferences.
