In Kyiv, unidentified men beat journalist, who writes about corruption

14.06.2014, 20:16

Late in the evening on June 12,  in Kyiv near the Dorohozhychi subway station unidentified men beat Andriy Didenko, a  journalist of the Informational Agency “Poriad z Vamy” and coordinator of Kharkiv human rights advocacy group. According to Didenko, he was attacked by at least two men, one of whom pushed him to the ground and started to beat him. He was soon joined by another man, and after they were done beating the journalist, they searched him and took his personal belongings – a cell phone, money, a journalist ID, and a bank card.

This is already a second attack – a week ago Didenko was also attacked by unidentified men. They stopped him from behind without a word near his home, searched, took away his backpack with a laptop and cell phone.

Andriy Didenko investigates corruption and abuse of power in the penitentiary system, fights for inmates’ rights and participates as an expert in the investigation of the beating of students on November 30 as well as of other crimes of the authorities committed against Euromaidan participants.

The editorial office of the Informational Agency “Poriad z Vamy” addresses the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with a demand to personally control the investigation of these attacks and to find the attackers.
