In Kyiv, “Ocean Plaza” security guards obstructed TV channel "24" journalists

14.09.2015, 23:29

In Kyiv, security guards of the shopping and entertainment mall “Ocean Plaza” were obstructing the filming crew of the TV channel "24" as they tried to take some footage related to the fire that occurred in the mall on September 6. The channel published the story on this at its website. The journalists tried to clarify why evacuation of people was so poorly organized during the fire, yet instead of answers, they had security guards grabbing their camera, not permitting to take footage, and complaining to the police about the journalists. On the footage the journalists took it is clearly seen how journalist Oleksiy Kondakov showed his journalist ID to the security guard but it did not help. The journalists had to call police and to file an official complaint on obstruction to their professional activities. Security guards, however, also complained to the police claiming the journalists by their actions violated honor and dignity of one of the security guards.
