In Kyiv, not all journalists admitted to event of honoring memory of Great Famine victims

01.12.2015, 00:40

On November 28 in Kyiv, representatives of the Governmental Service of Security were admitting not all journalists to the event dedicated to honoring the memory of Great Famine victims near the memorial in the Glory Park. Media Sapiens reported this, referring to journalist Oleksa Yaroslavtsev.

According to him, the event was attended by high official, in particular, President Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk, and former Presidents Leonid Kravchuk, Leonid Kuchma, and Viktor Yushchenko. The journalists were admitted only with preliminary accreditation. IMI media lawyer Maksym Ratushnyi comments on this, stating that such actions violate the Law of Ukraine "On Information", providing that absence of accreditation cannot serve as the basis for not admitting mass media representatives to public events, so this case is obstruction to journalists’ professional duties.
