In Kramatorsk, unidentified men in ski masks attacked journalist

07.06.2017, 00:57

In Kramatorsk, two unidentified men in ski masks attacked the string correspondent of the online media outlet “Novyny Kramatorska” Andriy Hryn. The incident took place on May 28, as reported by “Novyny Donbasu” with reference to “Hromadske TV Donbasu”.

The attack took place directly in Hryn’s apartment; his mother answered the door. The fight started and one of the attackers tried to use his knife.

“The attacker shouts to the other one: “Give me the knife! I will cut him down”, shared Hryn.

According to the journalist, while the criminals were distracted he ran to the other room, jumped out of the window to the street, and called the police.

The attackers took his phone and laptop, reported the vice head of Kramatorsk police department Andriy Drumov. He said that this case was recorded in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under part 3 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (robbery).

Andriy Hryn believes it was no ordinary robbery. He informed that his accounts in social networks sustained numerous hack attempts. The journalist links the attack to his professional activities, in particular, to his articles about quality of school dinners in the city. According to him, the local executive committee is trying to oust the current children food factory and replace it illegally with a competitor. Hryn also covered the topic of gambling business in the city.

Also, earlier, in March this year, Hryn received a threat from the city council’s executive official Andriy Davyskyba. The journalist reported the incident to the police but still has no response from them regarding an investigation. According to “Hromadske TV Donbasu”, Davyskyba did not want to comment on the situation.
