In Kirovohrad, journalists have limited access to oblast council and oblast state administration
Kirovohrad journalists were warned that access to the buildings of Kirovohrad oblast council and oblast state administration will be restricted to those who can present ID from their editorial office or ID of the member of National Union of Journalists of Ukraine. Kirovohrad branch of the Union addressed their central agency asking them to request the Cabinet of Ministers about legality of such demands of the local authorities.
As IMI has already informed before, that bodies of local self government do not have a right to restrict access of mass media representatives to their sessions. IMI lawyers have to remind about this because many newly formed city councils all around Ukraine started imposing restrictions on journalists, who want to visit their sessions. In particular, such cases were confirmed in Mariupol, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhya, and Lutsk city councils.
