In Kharkiv, businessman tried to strangle "Nashi Hroshi" cameraman as he shot footage

25.05.2016, 12:54

On May 24 in Kharkiv, during shooting for the story related to coal supply for electricity generation, the cameraman of the TV project “Nashi Hroshi” ("Our Money") Mykhailo Shelest was attacked by businessman Volodymyr Hluzman. This was reported at Bihus.info’s page on Facebook.

The journalists introduced themselves and showed their IDs to the security guard in the office building at 12 Vavilova Street. The special correspondent of the program “Nashi Hroshi” Alisa Yurchenko left her telephone number there. Later, the co-owner of the building Volodymyr Hluzman came down to meet the journalists.

“He pried off ID from the hands of Mykhailo Shelest, forbidding him to take footage of the office building from the street, from the public location. Hluzman grabbed the cameraman by his clothes and started strangling him. The video record of the assault was filed to the district police department, along with report about the committed crime”, the message reads.

In her comment for IMI, "Nashi Hroshi" journalist Alisa Yurchenko, who was present at the scene with the cameraman, said that they spent six hours at the local police departments, three more hours they waited for the court medical examiner, yet he never came, so the whole thing was postponed until May 25, when they also promise to publish the video of the incident. As the police reports on its website, they started a criminal procedure for this case.
