In Italy judges to issue sentence on Markiv’s case on July 12

25.06.2019, 14:42
The lawyer for the senior sergeant of the National Guard of Ukraine Vitaliy Markiv, who is accused of killing Italian photojournalist Andrea Rocchelli in 2014, claimed that the judges were trying to assign a guilty, and not to find the real person responsible for this killing. Raffaele Della Vallee refuted the Ukrainian servicemen had been present on the ground, where Andrea Rocchelli perished. He stressed they fired from underneath, not from Karachum hill, as to Hromadske.ua. The next hearing is to be held on July 5, and the judicial decision is to be pronounced on July 12. IMI informed that the senior sergeant Vitaliy Markiv was detained on June 30 in Italy as a person suspected of murder of photojournalist, citizen of Italy, Andrea Rocelli and his Russian colleague Andrey Mironov near Slovyansk in 2014. Markiv, who holds both Ukrainian and Italian citizenship is being tried under Italian law in the city of Pavia. He denied the charges.
