In Henichensk, official wanted to claim from web-site "Novyi Vizyt" 1 mln hryvnias

In Henichensk, Khersonska oblast, one of the high officials wanted to claim through the court from the video portal “Novyi Vizyt” one million hryvnias, yet later he withdrew his claim, “Novyi vizyt” informs.

In November, as the media outlet describes it, one of the high officials of Henichenskyi rayon filed a claim against "Novyi Vizyt" concerning defense of his honor, dignity and business reputation, and compensation for moral damages, for the total amount of one million hryvnias. Later, this amount was reduced to 50,000 hryvnias.

The information that was published in the media was concerning the officials stealing sand at Arabatska Strilka. “Novyi Vizyt” declared that this claim is plain pressure against freedom of press and an attempt to cover up the crime. The case became so notorious and advertised, that the claimant withdrew his claim, achieving an agreement with the media outlet not to disclose his name. On December 2, the claim was withdrawn from the court.
