In Donetsk, terrorists abducted parents of local journalist

12.08.2014, 16:39

On August 9, in Donetsk terrorists of the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic abducted the parents of the local journalist Victoria Ishchenko, who had to flee the city. According to Ishchenko, on August 9 the terrorists came to her parents’ apartment and asker for her, came back later, took her parents, and looted the apartment.

Ishchenko left the city several months ago, but on Saturday she received a call from her mom, who said that DNR gunmen came asking for her, but her mom answered she was not there and did not open the door. The gunmen promised to return and to tear down the door. Victoria called her mom in five minutes but nobody answered the call.

Ishchenko called her parents’ neighbours, who told her that the gunmen came back, searched the entire apartment, looted it, and took off taking Victoria’s parents with them. Currently, she does not know where they are.  When a neighbour asked the mom what they were being taken for she answered that it was because her daughter is a journalist.

Ishchenko believes this abduction is related to her journalist activities as her parents are far from politics.
