In Dnipropetrovsk, judge banned video recording where judge permission for it was not even required

18.05.2016, 21:26

On May 17 in the Commercial Court of Dnipropetrovska oblast, judge Valentyna Petrova forbade video and photo recording of the session to the correspondent of the newspaper “Litsa” Anton Filippov. The journalist himself reported this case to local IMI representative. The judge did not even provide any official explanation of why she does not allow the recording. She ignored all explanations of the journalist who tried to defend his right to record, and insisted that the recording was stopped.

According to the Law “On judiciary and status of judges”, recording of video and audio of the commercial courts sessions using portable devices is allowed without requirement of special permission of the court.
