In Dnipropetrovsk, investigation on ownership of local mass media to be presented

On September 24 in Dnipropetrovsk, there will be a presentation of investigation results on actual owners and beneficiaries of local mass media outlets. The presentation will be conducted as a part of the round table «Implementing media property transparency: Odesa reality», organized by the Institute of Mass Information in partnership with "Telekrytyka", with support of the Czech Embassy in Ukraine.

The discussion of the law #1831 "On amendment to some Laws of Ukraine concerning securing transparency of mass media outlets’ ownership and implementation of state policy guidelines in spheres of TV and Radio broadcasting", and new ideas of legislative initiatives in this sphere will be conducted as a part of the event.

In Ukraine, 80% of mass media owners conceal their identity; they register the outlets to bogus owners or off-shore companies. The specific situation in Dnipropetrovsk regarding this will be covered in IMI study for ownership transparency of local TV channels, radio stations, printed and online media outlets.
