In Chernivetska oblast, filming crew of local channel was attacked in village council

07.07.2017, 01:23

On July 5 in the village of Repuzhentsi (Chernivetska oblast), the filming crew of the TV channel “Chernivetskyi Promin” was attacked by a man, who tried to damage their camera. IMI received confirmation of this information from the TV channel.

As the website of “ Chernivetskyi promin” reports, a journalist and a cameraman came to the village on request of local residents to verify the information about illegal mining of sand in the quarry.

When the filming crew and local activists came to the village council to file an inquiry about the illegal mining, they were approached by an athletic-looking man who threatened journalists with violence and tried to break their camera. He also took keys from their car.

According to the information of the TV channel, this man was the acting village mayor.

Activists called police, and the filming crew left the site, because, according to journalist Oleksandr Dokiyen, the situation was threatening for their life and health.

The journalists filed an official complaint to the prosecutor's office about obstruction to the journalists' activities.
