In Chernihiv journalist could not get access to séance of commission in Regional administration
On April 19th, Lyubov Potapenko, journalist freelance, could not get access to the sitting of the competition commission in the Regional state administration, aiming to appoint the director of landscape parc “Yalivshchyna”. Lyubov Potapenko told it to IMI correspondent in Chernihiv region. As to Potapenko, the sitting was headed by the deputy of head of the Chernihiv regional administration Nataliya Romanova. “For the first time for late 30 years, I was not let in the Regional administration to attend the competition commission aiming to appoint new director of Yalivshchyna landscape parc. Except of me they did not let in a physician and candidate of sciences who was research advisor of the parc. We could get in by force. Only me, I was from the press”, she told. As to IMI Lawyer Ali Safarov, this incident could identified as fact of obstruction to professional activity of journalist. The dispositions of the second part of the article 25th of the Law "On information" stipulates the right to attend without any obstruction the premises of Power entity, open to public sittings held by them. The sitting of competition commission cannot be closed-door sitting, given there was no classified information to be discussed during this sitting or other information which is under restricted regime of access to information. Thus, ban of access to the sitting for the journalist has attributes of obstruction to professional activity of journalist", he said.
