In Bukovyna, rayon state administration asked police and tax control officers to check activities of website "Storozhynets-info"

Storozhynetska rayon state administration in Chernivetska oblast addressed police, SBU, and tax control officers with a request to perform check-up of activities of the local online media outlet “Storozhynets-info.”

Official letters were sent to the relevant local branches of governmental agencies on June 12. The letter requests to verify "basing on what documents the online resource covers information about local events, and whether the employees of this media outlet have relevant journalist IDs". The letter is signed by the first vice of the head of local rayon state administration D.Kovalchuk. The letter also requests to "keep under control all newly created Internet media outlets, whether they are created in a proper legal manner".

The media outlet’s team considers such actions to constitute pressure against the media outlet. The administration of the rayon, when asked by IMI, confirmed the fact of sending out such letters, but does not consider it to be a pressure "as we do not intervene with the editorial policy".
