The Institute of Mass Information’s (IMI) regional hub Mediabaza Cherkasy hosted a Petrykivka painting class for media professionals, where attendees could paing a Christmas ornament, sum up the year and discuss its challenges with colleagues.

Attending media workers decorated their own Christmas tree baubles, shared their achievements in 2025 and plans for the future. The ornaments were painted in the Petrykivka technique, which Cherkasy Art Museum artist Anastasia Lysenko helped the attendees master.

“Today was my first Mediabaza Cherkasy event, and I really enjoyed it. I never even thought that I would be able to master this technique. Was it difficult? No, it wasn’t. We were explained everything so well that I can even teach my friends now,” student Svitlana Zabara shares her impressions.

The event also helped distract her from the problems of everyday life, Svitlana says.

“I came and disconnected completely from the problems I have. When painting, you can pour out all your energy into the colors. And all the bad emotions leave you,” adds the participant of the event.
Journalist Tetyana Balyakina tries not to miss such events at Mediabaza Cherkasy, saying they serve as a kind of art therapy for her.
“This is something that really heals and distracts you these days. At least for me the time flies by unnoticed,” Tetyana says.
