On June 6, when the Day of Journalist is celebrated in Ukraine, the Institute of Mass Information during the press conference on challenged faced by Ukrainian journalism announced the winners of the contest for news photographers, who show journalists’ work.
The best photos were put on display in the National Historical Museum of Ukraine for a week-long exposition.
Winners of the photo contest:
5th place – Ihor Filipenko "As long as he does not overheat" Kropyvnytskyi, May 2017
2nd place – Anatoliy Bilonozhko "News photographers „working” with Olympic medal winners", Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, August 2016
IMI conducted the photo contest with support from Freedom House. The deadline for submission of photos was May 20. The photos had to picture a journalist or several journalists when performing their professional duties.
The contest jury consisted of: the head of IMI legal projects Roman Holovenko, Ukrainian news photographers Max Levin and Oleksiy Furman and the Freedom House Ukraine’s project director Matthew Schaaf.
