Zurab Alasaniya, chairman of the board of the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine (NPTU), claimed he was skeptical as to the state regulation of mass media, but recent years have proven this domain had to be regulated. Alasania told it on February 25 at the “Reform Forum: on the road to Vilnius” held in Kyiv, as Interfax-Ukraine reported.

“I am skeptical as to the state regulation of any media, and this was the case all my life, throughout my years in journalism. Recent years have proven that regulation is needed. All around the world they are doing it, ” he said.

Alasania noted that the lack of some rules has recently been felt, and the best way would be self-regulation of mass media.
