Head of Zhytomyrska oblast council sues newspaper "Berdychivskyi pohliad"

On March 30, Berdychiv inter-district court will be considering the case on protection of honor, dignity, and business reputation, refuting the invalid information and compensation of moral expenses based on the claim of the head of Zhytomyrska oblast council, Anzhelika Labunska, against the media outlet “Berdychivskyi pohliad” ("The Berdychiv View"), Zhytomyr.info reports.

The claim is about publication of a letter of a school teacher of physical training, which describes the political actions of the high official in a satirical manner.

Vita Kovtoniuk, the newspaper’s editor-in-chief, considers this claim an intervention into activities of a media outlet and limitation of the freedom of press, and request support of her colleagues from the local National Journalist Association branch.
