Head of State Emergency Service of Ukraine is suing ICTV due to news story about corruption

The head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Serhiy Bochkovsky filed a lawsuit against the TV channel ICTV’s host of the program “Distalo!” Vitaly Kovach and journalist Serhiy Antonov. This was reported on the website of the TV channel.

The reason of the lawsuit was the news story in the program of critical coverages “Distalo!” as of February 9, 2015. The story was about sectoral mistakes, corruption, and abuse of power in the Emergency Service, in particular, about the scandals connected to its current head, Serhiy Bochkovsky.

Bochkovsky claims that the story damaged his business reputation and demanded a refutation.

The program’s editorial group is ready to face him in court. The court session is scheduled for March 18 in Holosiyivksy rayon court of Kyiv.
