Head of Kakhovska rayon state administration sues “Kakhovska zoria” for accusations in corruption

The head of Kakhovska rayon administration (Khersonska oblast), Valeriy Saltykov sues the communal newspaper "Kakhovska zoria" with a claim on protection of his honor, dignity, and business reputation. He himself wrote about this on his Facebook page, and confirmed this information to IMI.

According to Saltykov, he filed his claim on March 14 to Kakhovka city district court. In his claim, the head of administration demands to refute the material published in the newspaper on February 18, by the deputy of the city council, head of the local branch of "Opposition Bloc" Pavlo Filipchuk titled “Head of Kakhovska RSA V.Saltykov illegally received almost one million hryvnias.” The material accuses Saltykov of tax dodging practices. The newspaper’s editor-in-chief Kyseliova  says she is prepared to publish any materials with facts proving Saltykov's innocence, yet she noted that at the time of publication of the material, Saltykov refused to give any comments on it.

The newspaper “Kakhovska zoria” is a communal enterprise, co-owned by the rayon council, the city council, and the newspaper staff.
