Governor of Zhytomyrska oblast asked police to check "Zhytomyr.info" blog about corruption

The head of Zhytomyrska olbast state administration Serhiy Mashkovsky filed a request to the Security Service of Ukraine, the prosecutor’s office, and the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Zhytomyrska oblast to check the information that on March 25 was published by the website “Zhytomyr .info”. This was reported on the website of Zhytomyrska olbast state administration. The article, a blog by a local political scientist Volodymyr Pinkovsky, was about corruption during appointment of the heads of rayon state administrations: “How much in Zhytomyrska oblast does it cost to get appointed head of rayon state administration?”

The governor requested that this information was checked and if found true all involved were punished accordingly. If the information were found to be false and thus libel he demands that the author and publisher were punished for this.
