General Prosecutor’s Office refused to tell journalist about "battalion of prosecutors" announced by Yarema earlier

26.11.2014, 21:25

At the General Prosecutor’s office, they refused to give information about the officials, who participate in the Anti-Terrorist Operation, to the correspondent of the online media outlet “Prestupnosti.NET” Andriy Lokhmatov. As it was advertised before by the Prosecutor General, there was supposedly a 600 strong “battalion of prosecutors” who volunteered to participate in the operation. Yet, when Lokhmatov requested some general statistics about the battalion, the Prosecutor’s Office refused to provide any information, stating this information is classified. Mr. Ratushnyi’s, IMI media layer’s, opinion is that thus refusal is clearly in breach of the law of Ukraine “On access to public information”.
