General prosecutor's office ignored IMI's requests for almost a month and answered only after complaint to Ombudsman

01.10.2015, 00:02

For almost a month, the General Prosecutor's office of Ukraine has been ignoring the information requests from IMI for the statistics on investigation of cases on obstruction to journalist activities in Ukraine and in particular oblasts. Only after relevant complaints were sent to the Parliamentary Ombudsman on Human Rights and repeated requests, the information was provided. The letters that IMI was sending to the General Prosecutor's office regarding the request (asking for a response) were also ignored. After IMI filed a complaint to the Ombudsman, the General Prosecutor's office sent a letter to IMI claiming they never received the requests. In response, IMI provided evidence of sending the requests via e-mail.
