Former Vice Prosecutor General Renat Kuzmin sues "Ukrainska pravda"

The former Vice Prosecutor General Renat Kuzmin is suing the online media outlet “Ukrainska pravda” to “defend his honor, dignity, and business reputation”. The relevant announcement was published in Kyiv newspaper "Khershchatyk", “Ukrainska pravda” reports.

The cause for the lawsuit is the article at UP as of September 21, 2015  "Hand dexterity. How Prosecutor's office ruined the case of notorious Kuzmin." In this article, Kuzmin is called "the chief organizer of terror against political opponents and businessmen that were not in line with the regime of Yanukovych". Kuzmin was named as the one fabricating criminal cases, illegal detainment and imprisonment of people.

The court session will be held on March 11.

Renat Kuzmin was Vice Prosecutor General, a deputy of Viktor Pshonka, from 2010 to 2013. He was the one in charge of most resonant cases, including the murder of Gongadze, prosecution of Yulia Tymoshenko and Yuriy Lutsenko.

On June 27, 2014, Kuzmin was called wanted on international level. Pre-trial investigation against Kuzmin is pending regarding illegal detainment of former Minister of Internal Affairs Yuriy Lutsenko.
