Fedorov: Over 4 thousand mobile connection stations damaged in Ukraine
Russia's aggression in Ukraine has resulted in 25% of fixed networks being damaged and 4,300 base mobile connection stations being destroyed or damaged, said the Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Development of Education, Science and Technology, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
"As of today, 25% of fixed networks are damaged – this is a fact. Over 4,000 mobile connection stations have been destroyed or damaged," Fedorov said during his presentation on electronic communications until 2030 on Wednesday.
He singled out such risk factors affecting the telecom industry in Ukraine as cyber attacks and the extra strain on the operators from the need to provide large roaming traffic for almost 4 million Ukrainian refugees.
As reported earlier, the Russians are jamming mobile connection in the border areas of Chernihiv oblast. They are also making efforts to make their broadcasting reach these areas and spread propaganda among the locals.
