Family of captured Roman Cheremsky cannot get him released
A Kharkiv journalist Roman Cheremsky has been in the captivity in Donbas region for almost three months now. His family and friends have filed numerous appeals with the local police to rescue Cheremsky but to no avail. This was reported by Telekrytyka with reference to the press service of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine.
In the middle of August, Roman Cheremsky went to the ATO zone where together with his colleague – human rights advocate Valeriy Makeyev got captured by the separatist gunmen. They kept him in the basement of the Military command and control center in the town of Rovenki as they suspected him of being a spy.
His family receive a message from volunteers that Roman is alive and is being kept in Luhansk in the s0-called Ministry of Defense of Luhansk People's Republic.
Despite the promise of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko that everything would be one to get the captured journalists released, Cheremsky is not even on the list of prisoners for exchange.
