DPR terrorists demand that Internet providers block access to 27 Donetsk websites

30.09.2014, 20:54

On September 16, the so-called “Ministry of Information and Communications” of the terrorist organization “DPR” sent to Internet providers on the territory under DPR control a letter, in which they demanded to block access to 27 websites, which publish news from Donetska oblast. This was reported by the editor-in-chief of the media outlet “Novosti Donbassa” Oleksiy Matsuka on his Facebook page. He also published the scanned letter from the self-appointed ‘Ministry’. It reads as follows, ‘The Ministry of Information and Communications of DPR in the course of implementation of measures to put an end to instigation to interethnic hostilities and proliferation of false information and slander has collected information about several online media outlets, which do publish such information’ and then lists 27 websites, including www.62.ua, www.novosti.dn.ua, www.hromadske.dn.ua, which, according to the ‘expert assessment’ have to be blocked, in particular, on the routing level. They also demand to report blocking within two days and threaten with punitive actions for failure to comply.

The letter was signed by the acting ‘Minister’ D.Gromov.

For the context, on September 12, the speaker of the informational and analytical center of the Council of National Security and Defense Andriy Lysenko reported that the terrorists of the so-called “DPR” increased pressure on journalists in Donetska oblast and demanded obligatory registration with the so-called "Ministry of Information".
