"DPR" appropriated editorial office of well-known Donetsk newspaper and TV channel

05.11.2015, 21:10

Members of the terrorist group “DPR” introduced so-called temporary administrations for Donetsk newspaper "Donbass" and Khartsyzk TV company “TV-sfera”. "Donbas news" reports this referring to the separatist website "DAN".

Members of the militant group explain their action by the fact that the former administrations are not administrating the companies.

For the context, on June 2, in the city of Donetsk, armed separatists kidnapped the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Donbass" Oleksander Bryzh and the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Vechirniy Donetsk" Leonid Lapa. After the negotiations, both editors were released. The self-proclaimed "Donetsk People's Republic" representatives demanded from the editors to change their editorial policies. Later, the editor-in-chief of "Donbass" decided to cease publications as he refused to change the editorial policy as the separatists demanded. The "Vechirniy Donetsk" newspaper took the same decision. In the end of June of this year, the printing of the newspaper "Donbass" was resumed.
