Disinformation spreads across the border areas in Chernihiv oblast as safety deteriorates
Misleading news reports resulting in panic have been spreading in the border areas of Chernihiv oblast as Russian shelling intensifies.
Oleksandr Artyushenko, the headman of a border district, spoke to Hromadske Radio about this.
"There are many rumors. Something about another full-scale offensive: they say, it could happen again and what should we do, being a border region. There were even rumors that there were already buses parked in Snovsk where they would load all the people and take them away somewhere," said the Artyushenko.
Oleksandr Klymenko, a resident of the border area of Chernihiv oblast, confirms the headman's words:
"Some are calmer, some are more worried... Different moods. Overall, the people are very worried about this situation, which is getting worse by the day."
The head of the Chernihiv Oblast Military Administration, Vyacheslav Chaus, emphasized that the current border fortification efforts are not related to the threat of a repeated offensive, and urged the people not to manipulate this topic.
"We are always preparing for any scenario or development of events. We will make it to the deadlines that we have set for ourselves. These deadlines are definitely not tied to any possible steps from the enemy's side," Chaus said.
