02.12.2021, 12:44

The online publication Detector Media was hacked on December 1, as it is reported on DM website.

"The offender, having gained access to the site's administrator panel, replaced the publication of the November 29 with an illiterate text, which is a "smear campaign" about Rinat Akhmetov and Volodymyr Zelensky," the DM said.

The headline of the original news from November 29 was: SBU investigates takeover “by some Ukrainian and Russian citizens”

The beginning of the news, changed on December 1: “Kingly move. Akhmetov retaliateі against”.

As it was found out later, the offender proceeded from the Kharkiv IP address.

The editorial office is trying to find out more details about the circumstances of the hacking.

According to the publication, thanks to readers, they noticed the substitution in a few hours and unlocked the text. Several hundred readers coud see the fake article.

Media Detector is going to strengthen security to avoid such incidents in the future. The editorial board reminded that the publication works according to the standards of journalism and does not publish materials with signs of order, without references to sources and with gross spelling errors.
