Defense Intelligence warns Ukrainian journalists of a Russian attempt to use them for a psyop
The Defense Intelligence department at the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine warns Ukrainian journalists that Russia might try to use them for their information and psychological operations in the near future. This was reported on the DI's Telegram channel.
According to the DIU, the enemy is expected to carry out a complex and large-scale fake news operation, which will involve the entire range of modern means of information and is intended to undermine the Western partners' trust in Ukraine.
"According to the Ukrainian Defense Intelligence assessment, the aggressor state's special services are planning to contact Ukrainian journalists on behalf of well-known Western publications, offering them to provide information about the state of the Ukrainian economy, the political situation in the country, and the activities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces," the report reads.
Defense Intelligence reports that the goal of the Russian special services is to undermine the supply of military aid to Ukraine by international partners, as well as to collect information about the Ukrainian Armed Forces and our country's defense industry.
The DIU urges the journalist community to verify the sources of cooperation proposals carefully.
