Court dealing with claim of CRRT director general prohibited journalists to record video or audio data

16.05.2015, 13:21

Shevchenkivskyi district court of Kyiv city banned video recording during the session on the case of the former Director General of the Concern for Radio Broadcasting, Radio Communications and TV Oleksander Pivniuk, who sues the Cabinet of Ministers, demanding to be restored on his position. Also, the journalists were forbidden even to use audio recorders, they had to use written notes, 112.ua informs.

Judge of Shevchenkivskyi court Oleh Malinnikov prohibited media outlets to conduct video recording of this session, on request of the State Special Communications Service and the Cabinet of Ministers. This is in breach of the Law "On securing right for just litigation" which permits media outlets to use portable video recording devices for recording court sessions without permission of the court. The judge refused to comment to the press on this.
